Although not officially, summer is over.
To be honest, even though the sunny season was relatively short compared to usual and also compared to what they were predicting, I can’t say I’m too sad.
It would be safe to say that Autumn is my favourite season. I love the colours, I love the air, I love sweaters, toques, scarves and boots, I even love the rain (so shoot me). The speed at which the temperature drops and the leaves change never fails to surprise me though. It always seems that summer comes so gradually and then ends over night. Just last weekend, it was 28 + degrees and we were sweating pounds (I swear I probably lost about three) at a garden wedding and this weekend we were in leggings and sweaters and wondering where our wool hats were. In any case, I’m bidding summer farewell and putting my shorts away and replacing them with pants and wool tights. I’m also hanging up my bridesmaid hat until the next bestie gets hitched. It’s been a crazy busy season and I’m a mixed bag of emotions about it ending, both relieved and a bit sad. It feels as though a weight has been lifted but I’m also feeling like I don’t have anything to look forward to. Time to take on some projects! I fee like the next couple of weeks are bringing on the turning over of a huge new leaf, perhaps a crunchy brown or red leaf due to the time of year, but those are my favourite kinds of leaves.
The above photo was taken of Kate and I on a walk in Fairview last Autumn by Kate’s also talented boyfriend, Dan.
Yes, the mushroom is real.
Happy Monday!
So much life, so little time
I’ve been on kind of a hiatus lately. I got bored with what I had going on here I think.
I’ve been busy. Busy, busy, busy. New friends, two jobs and a double life (one here and one in the city). I’m going to be getting my Scuba Diving certificate with my dad next week, I have three weddings I’m preparing for and I also got asked to DJ a couple of parties relatively soon (note to self: learn how to DJ). Oh, and Karen helped me realise my dream of moving into a trailer for the summer so I’ve been spending a lot of my spare time minimising my belongings and searching for anything miniature for trailer life. Which brings me to my next point -I’m going to start a new blog. I tried to do one last summer for my east coast adventure but I kind of failed. It didn’t really take off after I realised that my life over there was going to be even more mundane (although still awesome) than my previous Vancouver existence. Those of you who know me will know that I like to do things that some would deem weird. I like to go on adventures. I like to travel. I like to experience new things And so, I’ve decided that I will start a new blog about my day to day of spending a summer in a 6’x15’ (??) ancient fifth wheel on Karen’s two acres, helping with the property and chickens (layers = fresh free run eggs for me!), hanging out with her kids (Jack and Evie) and the coolest dog and cat (Maggie and Minnie respectively).
Hopefully this will make for the most interesting (albeit busiest) summer on record.

I may peace out of here for a while but keep checking in case something/someone strikes me.

to DIY for
Last night, Melissa stumbled upon this website and thought of me. Maybe I’m behind the rest of the world and everyone already knows about it, but if I’m not, I think you should all check it out. It’s got some really great DIYs and fashion insights. It’s everything I like and want to be and I stayed up waaaaayyyyy past my bedtime checking archives and getting excited about new projects, the coming months and life.
Oh, and I might live in a trailer for the summer. If anyone knows where I could park a vintage Boler for a few months, let me know. You would be helping a little girl realise a dream.
Just think, you could look out your window every day at one of these:

And also, one of these:

Also, I know I already put this song on my “Suicide Sunday” playlist, but I need to reiterate the fact that it is AWESOME and the video is totally KEWL and I totally can’t wait for the album to come out next month. (Thanks Ash)
Honestly, WTF?
